12. Faith Bible and Charismatic Issue
We believe God gives gifts to the church for the edification and up building of the body of Christ as well as for the growth of the church both numerically and spiritually. We are not a Charismatic Church. We do believe some may have the genuine gift of tongues and Scripture does instruct us not to forbid the speaking of tongues if used in accordance with I Corinthians 14. We appreciate the sincerity and Christian character of those who speak in tongues; yet the Apostle Paul encourages us to speak and use the gift of prophesy for the edification of the church.
We also believe God has given us His full and final revelation as found In the Scripture as it bears revalancy to the person and the work of Jesus Christ who is the spirit of prophesy (Rev. 19:10). We do not hold to the teachings that God sends ” new revelations” to his Church today. All revelation is complete in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1-4). We do believe in the enlightenment and the illumination of the Holy Spirit who applies and interprets His word as it bears revelancy to our lives.
We do welcome and tolerate Christians who hold different views provided these issues do not begin to tear down the body of Christ and provided these matters do not bring division in the church.
13. Faith Bible Church and Dispensational Theology
We, at Faith Bible Church do not endorse, hold or teach that the Bible is divided up in 7 different dispensations. Rather we believe the Scriptures are a unity ( both Old Testament and New Testament) and that the theology of the Scriptures focuses on the Covenant, especially as it bears upon the matters of the New Covenant we have in Christ Jesus effected by the blood of Jesus Christ and applied to our hearts by the Holy Spirit who plants His word in our hearts and writes His law on our minds (Isa. 61:8; Jer. 31:31-33; Ezekiel 36:22-28; 37:26; 2 Cor. 3:6; Heb. 8:6-8; 9:15; 12:24). Our church stands in the Reformed and Evangelistic tradition.
